I have been an Amazon/Prime customer for 20+ years. I live in the US and never had any problems before with my account. Last night I went to read on my Kindle and upon opening the cover, it signed me out from my Amazon account which had never happened before. I reentered my email and password which it did not recognize. I then went to access the Amazon app on my iPhone and it was the same issue.
I called Amazon customer care 4 different times and shockingly no one was able to locate my account by email or phone number. I provided order numbers from the last few days and still nothing. I even have an Amazon credit card and provided transaction confirmation records but still nothing. How do you have an Amazon credit card and they still cannot locate your account?
Currently Amazon claims they are researching this issue and cannot provide any update. How is it possible that they suddenly have no record of my account?
I should add that I last purchased something from Amazon this past Sunday with no issues. Also I received no notification that Amazon had closed my account or if a fraudster somehow requested to close my account.
The customer service reps are of little help and provided 3 different email addresses to contact for assistance
Any advice for next steps?
